About the Author

Irma Lima lives in sunny Florida and is a wife and a mother of two adult children. She enjoys going to the beach, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. She especially loves visiting her family in Puerto Rico, eating her mother’s favorite dishes, and collecting sea glass with her father, which she uses to make one-of-a-kind art. She is a teacher with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exceptional Education and a Master’s in Teacher Leadership, Multicultural Education. As a child, she did not enjoy reading but later learned reading is a gift. She works very hard at fostering a love of reading in her students. Over the years, she promised her students she’d one day write a children’s book, and here it is! Irma is a firm believer in increasing cultural awareness, respect, and acceptance. In writing “Snurkey: a Turkey’s Wish,” she hopes to encourage her students to accept themselves and be happy with who they are.
